PAF Pro. Best sounding Neck Humbucker I have. Great for sweeps.

Negative. Came with the Black Tele pickguard and a silver Lace SC. Sounds better now.

Let's see if this works: I hope this pic helps to get the ball rolling. I don't want to win, though, becuase a) I'm in the UK, and b) I already have a small box full of those screws!

Beast are those Dimebags in the Ultras? Yep. I was not impressed with the Red Dually Lace Sensors that came in the Ultras. Comments from people who have commented they owned an Ultra on internet forums/reviews have stated that they replaced the Lace pickups with EMGs, or some other hotter humbucker. I'm not an active pickup fan so I went with the hottest passive pick up I could get. SH13s rock the house. They really over power the Lace SCs I have in the neck & middle positions, but I don't use those pickups too often, unless playing Trower, SRV, or Hendrix. I want to put a stacked HB SC or HB SC rail type pickup in at least the neck position at some point. I need to get a'round tuit.

In your pictures you have screws in the pickup covers. I for some reason thought the pickup was stuck in the cover it came with at a predetermined height.

That's a really nice picture, SpaceRocker. I think I remember discussing these - but can't remember the details. Both are "F" serial numbers, eh? Do they have the same stock pickups and everything as well? Thanks for posting!

They both have Dimarzio Evolutions in the Humbucker position.
My original (on the right) was bought new in 1987 from a Guitar shop in Leicester. I put the Evolution in it a few years later.
My "new" one, (on the left) I bought off e-bay about this time last year from a guy in Scotland. He bought it new in 1987 in Soho, London. It came with a PAF pro in the bridge position, which I didn't like much. so I sold it and replaced it with another Evolution!
This e-bay Guitar was the find of a lifetime! I wanted a back-up guitar for gigs, and this was the ideal answer! The guitar was in fantastic condition. I watched e-bay for 6 months before buying this one. I have watched it for the past year (out of curiosity, more than anything) and I haven't seen a HM as good since (particularly in Teal).
Strangely, even though both guitars are from the same year, and have the same pick-ups, they both sound slightly different. My newer acquisition sounds slightly brighter, and more "stratty" than my original, which sounds thicker and darker, even though both guitars are set up identically. Different woods, I guess!
I tend to use my newer one for practice at home, and with the band, but use my original "punchier" sounding one for gigs!

Interesting history of those guitars, SR!
Also interesting that both of those are from 1987. Had heard they were made as early as '87, but nice to have confirmation.
I've always been firm that two different guitars can come out of the factory on the same day and sound different. I've heard the difference in countless "same brand and model" acoustic guitars played back to back, and now you're confirming this is the case with electrics, too.
What music does your band play? Do you gig often?

Nice! It's one of those songs that's very "memorable." I could imagine a nice Animals-era David Gilmour-style lead guitar solo in that song...
How long have you guys been playing together?

Just curious - do you make any money gigging? Or just pay the expenses kind of thing? From everything I've ever heard, it's pretty tough to make any money playing live unless you've hit "the big time." (Whatever that is, anymore!)

No we don't really make any money! The most we ever get paid is around £250, but when you factor in the cost of equipment, practices, etc, there isn't anything left!
To be honest, we have just undergone a "restructure" with the departure of our keyboard player, leaving me to do all the vocals!
Actually, it's quite exciting, as we are using a lot of midi-triggered samples, etc, which I will be triggering off my Behringer controller which I use for channel switching and effects, etc.
Our first try out with this arrangement is this weekend, in a small pub!
