Wow Nick, that's very decent of you to make such an offer. As much as I'd love to play one for a week or so, I wouldn't want you to go to that much trouble buddy, but I really appreciate the offer. I'm pretty sure I'd love the HM, the 1 hum/ 2 sc's configuration is my favourite p/up combination, particularly being able to split the 'bucker, giving me the standard strat set-up that I'm so used to as well. The wider neck appeals too, my one slight niggle with my Pacer and Stormshadow axes are that they are a little bit 'cramped' with their 1"5/8 at the nut. And if you're saying it's similar to a San Dimas Charvel then happy days!!!

Ah, I don't know, what if it can't nail the Fender Stop tones?

Yep, pricey indeed. I think UK/EU 'bayers are trying to get US prices for theirs.

Folks - Whoa! how did I miss that? Likewise, I just got the bug a few months ago, I was always wondering about a maple neck and then this one came up. cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Heavy-Metal-Stratocaster-HM-Strat_W0QQitemZ170468965379QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV?hash=item27b0bdfc03I was on holiday at the time and put in a bid from a hotel lobby in Tunisia (!) whilst waiting for a cab to the airport. My wife said 'Do you really need it (!!)' so I couldn't go high - I won it with £1.60p to spare! Actually it's in pretty good shape & all original. I think, on balance, I prefer the look of the rosewood neck - on Teal anyway (to me the black headstock looks odd with the maple). Sounds tasty with raspberry though. If it really didn't go, I'll keep an eye out for it coming up again as it's not far away from me. (Nick - I guess you're in the UK?). Cheers, T. Attachments:

Congrats on winning that tommyh! I put a low bid in on that one myself (it was before I'd convinced my wife that HM's are more important than clothing the children!) I'll get one one day, just hope I'll still be fit enough to play it lol!

Thanks for the advice Nick. I guess I did get a bit carried away. It does seem that HM's in blighty do go cheaper as you say and I just wanted to secure the deal!!! The seller must be basing his prices on the infamous 'German 3' lol. ;D Well, it was never relisted so I emailed the seller to see if it was still available. He said he'd set his 'low reserve' at £450 because he'd seen the German trio at £600. I replied and told him the story with the German HM's but he seems set to keep it rather than let it go for less. So, the search continues!

Bah! That's annoying for everyone, stratz...what a chump! That silly German man is ruining it for everyone.

My sentiments exactly Nick. Having said that the seller replied and said that he accepted that they don't fetch anywhere near what he first thought and is happier to keep it than sell it for the going rate. If he'd seen a few of the 'proper' auctions and hadn't seen the German ones I doubt he would have listed it in the first place.
