Mount holes done.Just need to add some stiffening ribs to the inside of both pieces, add a couple rounds to the outside and I'm done with design.

Ok, all done with design.
I've added the stiffening ribs and have begun programming the tool paths for the CNC.
Last step before it becomes a reality!

I machined out the bottom on Friday, so it looks exactly like my last post. Big hollowed out piece of aluminum. 2 more steps and the bottom is complete.Top is next, soon hopefully.
I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them.

What happens now, Bo? Does the machine trace around the outer edge to "cut the body out?"

What happens now, Bo? Does the machine trace around the outer edge to "cut the body out?" Indeed.
I'll make a plate that has threaded holes in it that match the holes in the body and bolt it down, outside UP.
Then run an End Mill around the outside. Then use a Ball Nosed End Mill to create the contours.
I'll see if I can't make a video when I do it.

Here's both halves, before "parting out". Bottom done Bottom standing back Bottom standing front Bottom weighs 2.8 pounds. A bit heavier than estimated. Here's the top bolted from underneath to the "Jig Plate". I bolt it to plates like this when I need to machine around the outside.More to come... ;D

Thanks!
It's gonna be a while before it gets assembled.
I need chrome pickups, and a good polish.
