Hey all. Guess I found this forum because I love my Strat and it good to know that others love thiers. I never knew all of the colors offered by Fender. Is this the color called raspberry? I’ve owned this USA HM Strat (with Kahler Spyder) for more than half of it’s life. Came with the original case for $250 and is in really nice condition. Here’s what not original. The control cavity cover was missing. I couldn’t find one so I made one and got some black pick guard screws. The plastic-bodied 5-position switch was shot, so now it’s a standard Stratocaster selector switch. One of the original “F” knobs was missing (still have two of them). They were a little too high and in the way for my liking so now there’re all standard Stratocaster knobs. The little coil-splitting toggle switch was not connected to anything- and the bridge p/u had only two wires (no coil splitting) so I wired it as a “neck on” switch. When switched on, it adds the neck pickup regardless of the position of the selector switch. Basically, it adds two more p/u combinations – bridge + neck (somewhat useful) and all three pickups together (not so useful). The seller said the humbucker was a replacement DiMarzio super-distortion but after reading in this forum that HM Strats came with super-distortions –and the fact that this guitar must have had coil-splitting originally, who knows? I just know this thing sounds great, feels great and I love it.

Did some digging and I guess this is Metallic Red, Chrome Red, Chrome Metallic Red – still don’t know Fender’s official name for the color back then. Also looked at the serial number decal (F033948) and got conflicting information regarding year and country of origin. Even though neck plate shows USA, neck may be MIJ. I’ll post in the serial number thread.

It's raspberry. I'm an original owner from 1988.
