I'll have to take a listen later...(as I am at work right now!)
I was going to psot about how I recorded with my Hm the other week. A guy and I were doing a Hey Joe cover, and we discussed having a crazy pyschadelic breakdown in the middle. Immediately I think of dive bombs and things like Jimi did, and what better guitar to do it with than the ultra stable HM?
We did a lot of different things on the track and I demonstrated to him the stability of the Spyder. Even after a whole load of dives and subsonic tomfoolery, it was in tune.
I was very impressed with it. We were running into Guitarrig and other stuff and the tones it gave otu were great. I'd not really had a chance to test verstility of the HM before, though I know the Harmony central reviews had a few guys saying they play entire gigs of jazz, rock, pop, metal with them. I can see why now.
Hopefully the guy and me can work on the track a whole lot more. When it is done + mixed down I'll post it here.

Hey, I can't wait to hear that. Definitely you should post here!
I think the Super 3 is a undiscovered gem. It's great for recording distorted guitar and gives it a fuller, less digital sound than many other pickups.

Yes, odd how some pickups take to recording better than others. I though the single coils were pretty darn good too. On my way old US strat I had gone from SSS to H-H as I prefer single coils especially n the neck position. Man the difference in output is huge, obviously. I had two Pearly Gates and recapled them with the stock singles. All of them metered at 6 k ohms straight, which is good consistent quality control!
I used it tonight at band practice and it had a really hard time pushing the amp. I had to have my Marshall pedal on all night.
PS the marble HM looks awesome So much shineness! How'd you get it that shiney?
Your playing was way cool on this Jim, and the tones were great. I like those kind of riffs, meaty chunky chuggy ones. Really cool.

I think the Super 3 sounds so good because it is geared towards the lower end and is not a bright pickup. So when you record digitally distorted guitar with it, it tends to mellow out the fizzy upper-end.
So, sorry but I don't quite understand...which pickups are in there now, the Pearly Gates or the single coils?
Thanks for the kind words, by the way. As you know well, the HM's had about 500 or so coats of lacquer or whatever on them, and mine still has that. Also, shooting it out in the sun like that really brings out the shiny-ness.

In the strat right now are SSSs. Speaking of lacquer, I'm spraying two guitars right now, another fabric one, and a the Charvel I goofed up on badly. I stripped the Charvel again and started afresh after fighting it for months. Going well so far. Pics will be put on here.

Actually I came really close to buying some pink paisley like that, Jim...
If I pulled it off, I am thinking I could sell a few, as there's demand for em, I think.

Haha. I would ask what they're putting in the drinking water over there that would make people want to buy those, but I'm pretty sure there'd be some people here who'd want to buy them as well!
