Hi I made a few posts here before the board change. I was rebuilding my HM Strat at the time, and was after advice on screws, etc. Anyway, I have re-built the guitar, which now works fine, and I have added another, purchased off e-bay. The condition of this guitar is exceptional. I will try to post a pic showing the two guitars. Let's see if this works:

Nice guitars there, congratulations on the rebuild. My hm is teal like yours are, except it has a maple fretboard.

Thanks! And thanks Heem for fixing the link!
I have been after a back-up guitar for years, but always wanted one which sounds and plays like my HM.
Finally, I've found the perfect back-up! Only problem now is deciding which one to play! The one I have just bought has considerably less fret wear, and has a Dimarzio PAF Pro humbucker fitted. My original (which I bought in around 1987) has a Dimarzio Evolution humbucker.
Curiously, the single coils on the newer guitar are noticably brighter and louder than the original., I think Fender must have sneaked a few extra turns on there!

Very awesome. I really like the whole "Twins" thing.
How does that Evo sound by the way? And the PAF PRO?

Hey Space, Does the new one have the TBX tone control as well? If not, maybe they changed the configuration of that - which could account for the brightness. Or, as you said, maybe they changed/improved the pickups themselves.

I'm not sure what the TBX tone system is! I don't think either one has it, but I'll have to find out how to check!
I've always liked the Steve Via Evolution pick up in my old strat. It is punchy, has a slightly "pinched" nasal sound (like a Les Paul bridge pick-up, but clearer), and really sings playing lead up the neck.
The PAF pro in the new guitar, however, also sounds good! It sounds full and balanced, and a little more "open" than the Evo.!

Just put an EVO in my my new strat!
It's definately my preferred pick-up. The PAF pro just doesn't have enough presence and "bite" for my tastes.
Both guitars are now near-identical!
