Maple neck! That bridge pickup has been replaced but that's no big deal. You could get a Super 3 on the Duncan forum for like $50. Good luck!

Do you have a link to those $50 Super 3's?

You are bidding against my stratz! But I put a low bid in which will be exceeded easily. I will not pump it up. I was hoping for another maple necker, but I have 3 HMs anyway. Whereas you have not one! Hope you win it.

Ha ha! That's very sporting of you Nick ;D Only fair to point out that I may not bid on it purely down to lack of funds (this is the first time I've regretted buying the Pacer lol) I'll keep you posted buddy And thanks to Heem for the info on those super 3' ;Ds

You're welcome. I've been informed that early versions of the HM's may have had pickups with polepieces in them, The Beast has more information on that. I will say I do like the Super 3 a lot.

I also love the Super 3.
The crunch...the sustain...yummy.

Yes, bridge humbucker on that strat is IMO 99.9% likely to be original.
Pretty sure that the first run of the HMs, before the different colours and "-stones" had that sort of humbucker, with a screw coil and normal other coil, rather than hex coils as is on Jim's bright red HM on our welcome page.

Hm! Didn't sell. Reserve not met. The price it reached was about average over in the UK I think. I got my tatty silver one for 270 without shipping a few years back. Maybe it'll be relisted!

Tell me about it! I was the highest bidder and bid well over the £255. So much for his 'low reserve price'

I'd say wait until one hits around that price. No point bidding anything about £300-320 IMO...but if you REALLY must have one, your bid is yours to decide. Thinking about it though, you could barely buy a new Fender MIM for that £££ so, maybe you can go much higher, as the HM outpaces a MIM by a good distance.

Thanks for the advice Nick. I guess I did get a bit carried away. It's just that I've seen a couple go on ebay in recent months go for higher than expected prices (the tatty white one with non-original pups for example went for £440 odd!!!) It does seem that HM's in blighty do go cheaper as you say and I just wanted to secure the deal!!! The seller must be basing his prices on the infamous 'German 3' lol. ;D

Haha! Probably!
I wonder what his reserve was? I do recall that white one...maybe my idea of a good price is out of date. I got mine before the big 80s revival that seems to be in full swing now. About 3 years back.
I could probably just send you one of mine to test out for a while if you like. You may not like them at all! The maple and rosewoods feel different to me. The maples are very like the current Charvel San Dimas reissue/"Production Models". My So-cal and Maple HM are very similar on the back shape of the neck, but obviously the HM has lower string tension and a wider, flatter neck radius.
