Hello, first post here. I have a Black HM strat HSS model 1988-89 maple neck s/n E849079 9. I need to do something with the neck, and I am tempted to replace it entirely. Does anyone know what specs I need to get the scale right - for example if I was to order one from Warmoth (http://www.warmoth.com/Pages/CustomNeck.aspx?style=1&type=1 ) in order to get the scale and feel right. I am really used to this neck .. Wiki tells me it has a 17 inch radius - much more than any options with Warmoth, perhaps 16 will be approximately the same?
Btw, thx for operating a site about my favourite guitar.

Hey, you're welcome Nesnah!
I haven't had any experience with neck replacements on the HM's. I do know the scale length is 25.1", almost like a PRS. I'd recommend you ask Warmoth if their 24 fret extension neck would work on a 25.1" guitar. I'm thinking their 24 fret extensions are designed to fit on 22 fret guitars with a 25.5" scale length.
Can I ask what's wrong with the neck? If it's just fret wear, it'd definitely be cheaper to get that replaced than to try get a whole new neck.
Alternately, you could take the fretboard off, buy a new one that is 25", and just mount it 0.4" farther down the neck than the original. PM me for details if you decide to do that.
Nice to hear from you. Post pics if you got 'em!
