I am ok with the humbucker but I'm not loving the singles in my HM.They are just kinda bland. Looking for a little more output and bite. Anybody swapped theirs out and what are you using?

An HM I got was loaded with EMGs. I think they're pretty nice but have not tried them at loud volumes. I think really, the am you have plays a very big part too, in shaping tone.
But on other forums, like at jcfonline, the Cool Rails are recommended highly for HSS configs.

I am ok with the humbucker but I'm not loving the singles in my HM.They are just kinda bland. Looking for a little more output and bite. Anybody swapped theirs out and what are you using? Both of my HM Strats have the neck sc pickup replaced. I installed a Duncan hot rails in my pink HM many years ago, and my raspberry had a DiMarzio HS-3 in the neck when I got it. Both are wired (along with the bridge PU) to coil tap with the toggle switch. I'm not too picky about tone. Some guys/gals want ALL of their guitars to sound a certain way.. but to me, every type of sound is useful and potentially musical, and different sounds for different jobs, but I think both are great. I like a nice juicy/fat neck HB tone, so the hot rails does that really well. If you play rock, check out Tony MacAlpine's tone on his "evolution" album.. that's hot rails in the bridge/neck through the venerable H&K access preamp. To me, that's a great sound. My only complaint about the hot rails in the neck pos. is that when I'm playing REALLY hard, my strings have gotten wedged under the pickup cover .. once when I was playing out, both E strings were stuck and wedged against the sides of the fretboard. The first time it happened, it was dark and I didn't realize what was going on until the song was over. I thought I had broken TWO strings before I was able to see what was really happening. After that show, I put gaffers tape on the edges of the pickup -- ugly, but problem solved. An idea that I lifted from Steve Vai. If I were to replace the pickups, I'd either go with an EMG set because I love how EMGs sound through a cranked tube amp, and also how they sit in the mix of recordings. I'd also consider the DiMarzio stacked pickup set that Greg Howe used during his "Introspection" period. LOVE the tone on that album.

I'm happy with stock singles on my HMs I believe they're standard strat pick ups, and give a traditional (if slightly "fat") strat tone. This is what I want from my singles!
They contrast nicely with the attack and bite from the Evolution humbuckers.
