I hardly ever gas for guitars anymore. Really, the HM's are pretty much my ideal guitar. But this one caught my eye:
24 frets, Zero Resistance trem system, AANJ neck heel, Mahogany body, skinny Wizard Prestige neck...what's not to love?
Well, I've heard guys around the Ibanez forum complain about the neck joint being badly engineered on one of the models - and I think it was this one. Also, Ibanez parts are not the easiest to get. You have to find them on eBay or order them thru Rich at Ibanez Rules. He's cool, but parts are not cheap and you have to wait for them. As far as Customer Support, I'm told you can forget about calling Ibanez, I don't know if support even exists. Plus, I'm guessing not many people know how to troubleshoot the ZR bridges.
Obviously Ibanez make a great quality guitar, but all of those variables add up to a little too much uncertainty for me.
Thoughts?

I would probably get an Ibanez Prestige if I wasn't so in love with the HM strat headstock & body style. I just think they broke the mold when they made the HM. Very few improvements I would make to its design if I were try to make a custom one. I would love to have reverse headstock birdseye maple 24 fret neck with LSR tuners & jumbo steel frets. Body with maybe some quilt/curly maple for a top on some light ash or alder with a SD SH-13 in the bridge and a SD Hot Rails in the neck position with a FR Pro or a Kahler Steeler for a tremolo.
Sorry about that. Started having a day dream.
Now, where were we?
Oh yes. Ibanez has an excellent array of tremolos. Love the cosmo color hardware.
