Looks like I need to chanage my humbacker - it is the first change! What was originally assembled? What could be the best alternative? I consider SD SH-6 or SD=sh15 Alternative.
Ta!

The original humbucker is a DiMarzio Super 3. Still in production. F-Spaced of course.

Hi & thx for promt reply! You mean Super 3TM DP152 & F? Do you have any opinion on SD SH6? Could it be comparable? As I do it 1st time in that guitar and it is ca 20 years old - is there any time limit for those pups?
cheers,

Hi stratsphere,
I have not tried the Distortion or Alternative 8 in the HMS. I do have a JB in the bridge of one which sounds really good.
Regarding a comparison between SH6 and SUper 3, the Distortion seems to be 16k, and the Super 3 about 25k! The Super 3 was made by Steve Blucher, at Dimarzio specifically for the HM.
Unfortunately the Dimarzio website doesn't give info on things like Inductance and Resonant peak.freq, which are very useful to determine how powerful, and what sort of sound a pickup gives.
I guess you could also ask on Seymour Duncan forum! The guys are very helpful there.

I'm not a big fan of the Duncan Distortion, although I do like the JB quite a bit. Great harmonics and tone, it would probably work well in the basswood HM body as some people complain about the JB being too bright. To me it seems to be a mid-powered pickup.
I love the Super 3 - it has more output than the JB, is heavy while staying crisp and pushes an amp right where it needs to to push it's distortion/overdrive. It's a Super Distortion with boosted mids and chopped treble.

I'm a huge fan of the SH-13 Dimebucker. It is not a well rounded pickup though. It is made for distortion and volume, volUME, VOLUME. The Super 3 is better suited to different types of music styles.
