Local shop near me had a Contemp. Strat with single Humbucker. Really nice guitar, but a kind of oddball bridge, Fender's own take on a Kahler, almost. Before Fender thought "Let's just use Kahlers".

Looks nice - how much did they want for it?

Yeah, that is the system 3 tremolo I believe, I have system 1 single HB MIJ contemporary strat. It was what got me going on the HM when it came out. The contemporary strats were great guitars and have a following of their own.

What's the system 3 trem like? I've heard of it but know practically nothing about them.

I tried it briefly for about 20 mins, (no extensive experience with it, Jim) and I thought it at least worked fine. Feel was like a lighter Spyder. Feel was not like a Floyd.
I do recall from reading the setup notes that it is a bit of a complex system, IIRC? But nowhere near as complex as say, a Kahler pro!

Used to have a 27-4100. Identical to the one in the pic except for the system II trem. A real pain to re-string that one, but other than that... I miss her

I just saw one of these at the Guitar Center in Kirkland Washington last month. I also took a couple of pictures. The tremolo arm was missing the cap and it had exposed threads on the end. Same color and configuration as your photo. Same bridge too. I think it is called the Wunderbar I thought it was the same guitar until I saw the date of your post. It would be interesting if it actually was the same and had travelled all that distance over the period time.
