In principle, I've never been a big fan, but honestly I'm not sure I've ever played one.
What model do you have exactly?
Mexican made?

I'm pretty sure this thread is just about normal squiers but what are people's opinions on squier hm strats (Hm-3 is it?)? Are they in any way comparable to a fender hm? I've got to say, i'm a huge fan of their headstock.
Oh, and correct me if I'm wrong but they use Floyd Roses don't they?

I was really just kinda being a dick when I started this thread. the squier is pretty good for the money the pickups are the weak link up grade them and they sound pretty good. Its not an ORF but a copy, seems to be a decent trem. I would say this was fenders RG. When I say good for the money I mean $300.00 0r less.

aye, I've got my eye on one for E100 on Ebay. Funnily enough, it's missing the trem, I guess I could get a decent enough one and pop it in and perhaps one of those 50 buck super 3s. I'm broke though, and the upcoming Megadeth gig is not gonna help that.

I had a Squier HM-2. Came stock with a Floyd Rose licensed trem. Bought the guitar for $279 at Strings and Things in Memphis. Could not afford the Strat HM for $1000 or the neon orange SG for $800. That Squier did actually rock. It was nothing like the Squier Strats. It stayed in tune very well and had a good distorted bridge pickup sound. Metallica was no problem. The clean tones were ok, nothing to write home about. The pickups were probably less limiting than the plywood body when it came to tone. I still have it. Moved on to a Charvel 3a which had (and still has) a much better playing neck and fretboard. The Charvel also had a heavy solid wood body. Then I found an old 69' Les Paul for sale that wasn't that great for metal, but it was cheap and in great shape Still though, that Squier did rock. I need to get it set up and playable again.

I modded one of the recent Squier standard series last night. Out came the SSS. In went an EMG81. That's it. Single Hum. Going to try it at band practice tonight. Holds tuning well and the two point trem is superior to the USA and Mexis imo!
