Here is a picture of the first Floyd Rose - made between 1982 and 1984. In 1984 Kramer started using the version with fine tuners. Not surprisingly, Eddie Van Halen now claims it was his idea to add the fine tuners. Brad Gillis reportedly liked this version and swore that once you got it setup, it would not go out of tune.

Yeah the first ones that Rose hand made himself in his garage go for big bucks I think. Although they are probably the shizznit. I personally don't think they look as nice as the newer fine tuner ones.

You could always buy me one of these and I'll letcha know if it's all they claim! lol
I bet there's a few players over at the Kramer forum that have one of these units on an vintage Focus and Strikers. I wonder how they like them?

They remind me of the Wilkinson type, or Schaller made, Vigier branded trems, a little. I think they look cool. Simple, sleek, dependable.
Would love to try one.

Yeah I seen that one earlier today. There is some discussion over at the Kramer Forum that this one might be one of the original handmade ones by the man himself!
Wonder how high this one will go.

Also, notice how this one of eBay doesn't have the valleys on top of the saddles where the strings go over? Also this one has the nuts on the lock block screws.

Hmmm, didn't even notice that until you mentioned it Gary.
I was taking a look at the Fender Deluxe Locking Trems the other day. Allegedly a collaboration between Floyd Rose and Fender. They look a lot like the one above, but reportedly don't work as well - setup is an LSR Nut and Locking Tuners. (Which are probably the culprits more than the bridge.) I've seen them for $200 and $300, I guess they're discontinued already.
Oh boy did Wolverine's movie suck!

A locking nut and no fine tuners just doesn't make sense. I don't doubt that the setup works for Brad Gillis, but my guitars are made of wood and metal, and where I live there are temperature changes, which cause said wood and metal to expand/contract, thus making me happy my locking system-equipped guitars have fine tuners

Well Chris....it's kinda like a prop driven plane being invented before the jet engine. Headed in the right direction no doubt, and improved over the years. Gotta remember, those first ones were made close to 30 years ago! Well this one on the bay ended up going for $495US!

I'm definitely not knocking Floyd's work.
