Well, I guess I started this website around 9 months ago. I had fallen in love with the HM's and was frustrated by the lack of information on the internet. So I decided to put a website up. It grew, (and grew) and it seemed like a good idea so I built a forum to go along with it. It took a lot longer than I imagined to research all the information and construct the website and forum and so I'm really happy to see there's a core community of HM enthusiasts that are regulars to the board now!
At the time I started this project, I wasn't sure how much time I was going to be able to dedicate to this, or if there would be any interest from the general public at all. I thought it best just to buy the domain for one year and see how things sat at the end of that year.
Well, we're almost there and it's getting close to time to renew the domain. It officially expires in October. Verisign, the official registrar of internet domain names, is raising prices in July. The current prices are still available if the renewal is done now.
So here's what I would like to ask - it's $10.69/year for the domain renewal. I'd kind of like to see this website stay up and have the information available to new HM buyers, die-hard HM enthusiasts, people who are thinking about buying these guitars and just people who have heard they are cool guitars and want to know more about them.
I'm happy to contribute myself, but would like to ask if some of you be willing to contribute towards a multiple year renewal? To host the website for ten years would be $106.90, and if ten people chipped in $10 each that would be a pretty painless way to keep our beloved HM's alive and represented on the net for another decade.
I've just recently come out of some tough financial times myself and I know the economy is not treating everyone well right now. So please don't feel pressure to contribute if you're in a tough situation. If you can and want to contribute, please send me a PM and we can make arrangements. I'd also like to keep it confidential because obviously you're all good people and I want you to keep posting to the forum regardless.
Finally, thanks to each and every one of you for being such a great group of guys and for sharing your knowledge, humor and insights with everyone else here!
