As if my 3 HM Ultras were improperly documented. The Nerve. LOL
Hey Fist did you pay the $1,000.00 asking price on Craigslist?

Sweet dude...very nice score.
I'm curious also, what you'd paid for it.
Don't feel bad if you paid "too much". What's it worth to you to have this small slice of history?
So, that's a Kahler OFR eh beast? Is that what came on the later models?
I thought Fender dissolved their partnership with Kahler by the time these later models came out.?

That's it. I believe the Fender quit buying from Kahler in late 1990 and Fender partnered with FR in early 1991, as I have a Fender Frontline from Spring 1991 which states "Floyd joins Fender" on the cover. That is the Frontline I got the FRII pictures from a while back during what I refer to as "Pot Metal Gate". LOL
I think the Kahler "Steeler" as it is known was only put on the HM Ultra in the HM Series. It showed up on some other Fender models around late 1990 as well, like the HRR model. You can also find it on other boutique and high end guitar company models like ZION and I think Tom Anderson.

I guess Fist finally reached his zenith with the HM Ultra and either commited suicide knowing he could never do any better than the Ultra....
...Or, he hasn't stopped playing it after he posted this mssage long enough to type a response to the "How much did you pay for it?" question.
Fist...Come in Fist! This is HM Ground Control. Fist...Can you hear us!

Yeah "The Clinched One" is back with a vengeance.
I paid $827.00 for my blue Ultra in 2004. Given inflation and the price of eggs in China, the price you paid seems about right. If it is true that Fender only made 1,000 examples of the HMUs, you are in an exclusive club. Seems like you have had problems with rusty HMs. All three of my Ultras were completely rust free. In fact, they were so rust free I had to add rust to them just to make them seem normal.
P.S. That rubber keyboard will come in handy with your daily 15 MOP as well. LOL

Only complaint I have with this guitar is it requires a new input jack. I'm just to lazy to go fix it.
