Wow I just saw something I wish I could erase from my mind. I wonder how many HM strats are lost to "mods" We should start a group that protects HMs from being slaughtered

Ya well a scalloped fret board done right wouldn't be so bad. or any mod that is done right for that matter, but when it looks like some crack head took it out to the shed and took a hack saw to it that's when I just have to ask WTF?

Not keen on scalloped fretboards - totally unnecessary in these days of "Jumbo" frets! - but that's just my opinion!

LOT of 'em got fretboards scalloped! lol....can't bitch about free necks now could I? Ya know, from that batch. There was an old Chandler pointy in there. It was hacked just like those HM's were at the hands of a shitty scallop job. JUST today out in the shop I decided to strip that neck. I used a propane torch. Heated up the board, like burning almost. With the help of a chisel. It peeled right off! Damn the steaming off the board method! I had that thing off in 5 minutes and was using a sheet rock knife to scrape the leftover glue off.

Nicely done! I suppose if you're going to throw away the fretboard anyway there's no reason not to torch it off.
