Hi,
If an HM Strat doesn't have a serial number on the back of the neck, is it authentic? Where would the serial number be if not there?
Any other good indicators of authenticity on the HM?
Thanks.

Hmm...if there is no serial, it may have been removed ro rubbed off, or depending on date, may not have ever been there?
I would check the logo, control cavity cover, neckplate, tone and volume pot dimensions (mini pots usually), and pickup appearance, together with nut type, and colour.
All these follow a few set patterns (like, paint schemes with trem types) and some are constant, like control cavity and logo (unless we are talking about late models and Ultras, which you'd know by trem type and inlays and so on!)
Pics would be cool: if we can help, we will.

If you look in that third pic right where the neck joins the body you can see part of the serial number on the skunk stripe on the back of the neck
