Hey, I though it would be a good idea if we listed other guitars we knew with kahler spyder trems on them. Replacement saddles are pricy, and if other guitars had them on it, it might be a deal to buy one of those to use the trem for parts. I don't know any other guitars using a spyder tremolo, any knowledge would be appreciated.

Well, Halo is probably the expert on these, but he's gone for a week, so ...
A lot of the Peaveys had Kahler Spyders on them. The Tracer, Nitro, Destiny, G-90 and of course Vandenberg all had them on at least one model of each.
Lately the Peavey's prices have been rising. I think people started realizing they were undervalued Made in America gems. You used to see Tracers on eBay for $100 sometimes.

Jim is correct......except for the expert part! ;D I have seen prices going up a bit in recent months. But for someone wanting a Spyder complete, or for parts. THe Peavey Tracer and Nitro models were/are where its at. I got this one last year for $100 shipped from a lady in Texas. It was missing a few parts on the Spyder, as seen in these pics after I first got it. But I had extra parts laying around so it was a non issue. Also, to me, the ones that have the neck on them like this one are the ones to get. THey are pretty much the same neck as was on the Vandenberg's. Just awesome necks! THe Nitro, Destiny and G90 models came with this neck as well. But some had a different head stock on them. And I've played a few of them and they are nice necks, but not like the, what I call, "fluted droopy" head stocks like these have. This one went for $150 on CL earlier this year. I didn't have the spare cash or I would have snagged it. Also, I would usually not even talk about the above because I dont agree with getting a really kick ass guitar and stripping it for parts, whether you are using them or parting them out for sale. But for the money these guitars are really hard to beat for an American made axe. Also there is a jackass on eBay that is buying these up cheap, putting a shitty paint job on them and trying to sell them for $450US and up. Not even sure he has sold any but I am sure someone will get taken. THere still are some going pretty cheap on eBay if you can get them before this guy does!

Thanks for the Info, I saw the guy you were talking about on there, such a con artist. I wouldn't part out the guitar to sell it, It's more like having extra parts in case of an emergency, since my hm is my main axe. If I end up finding one of these old peaveys for a good price, I'll probably switch some of the parts onto my hm (worn out hex slots suck), and then give it to my friend. He really needs a decent guitar, he's good at playing, but he still has an ibanez gio with a warped neck. Thanks again for the info

There are several other brands out there that had the Kahler Spyder. I had, and wish I'd kept it now, a Hurrican EX60 years ago that had a Spyder tremolo on it. I think it was made by Morris guitars. I've also seen some USA Jackson's that had a Spyder. THey are out there!

Halo - you got such a smokin' deal on that guitar I'm about to cry! Well, not really - but I am JEALOUS!! haha.
BTW, I've seen a couple of those repainted Tracers that you're talking about up for sale recently. They're for sure from that same guy 'cause you can't mistake those paintjobs, and it hasn't been too long since he sold them that they got put back up. Some people must not be happy with them since it seems to be a quick turnaround time between buying and selling!

Yeah I think his eBay name is Dragonguitars or something like that. Many of the ones I've seen he has removed the stock pups and tremolo's and replaced them with newer "shiny" parts! lol
And I have to say that the stock humbucker in these Tracer models are probably the hottest stock pup i've seen in a while. The kicker is how cheaply made they are! Damn things have plastic feet....wtf? When I got mine one side was broke. I took it apart to see one leg missing. For a while I had a piece of paper folded up the right height so the pup would be level on the strings. And I was a little surprised at how well it sounded.

I had a Peavey Predator Plus EXP like the one below at one time and was also surprised how hot the pickups were on it. Damn thing only cost $220, but it was a pretty nice guitar!
