Nicely done, Stratz!
One of my HM's is a single humbucker and not only are we in a special, exclusive club by owning them, I just feel there's a special sort of magic that they have.

Thanks Jim! It must be that 'less is more' thing lol! It's a great guitar, I played it last night at rehearsal, with the cold sweat pup installed and it sounded awesome!!! It just seems to suit the HM perfectly. Got our first gig with the 80's metal band I'm in in a couple of weeks and I can hardly wait. It just feels the 'right' guitar to play! \m/.

Just seen this thread ....great guitar Stratz. There was one identical to that, same colour and a single humbucker in a guitar shop brand-new back in the day in Derbyshire (do you ever go over to Chesterfield much?). There used to be a music shop called Hudson's (was like a local family owned empire of half a dozen shops...its sadly shrunk to just one now). It was the 1st HM Strat I'd ever seen...and I used to stand hanging my nose over it every single saturday looking up at it. I'd have been about 13/14 at the time. It must've been 1988 as the following year I went and ordered one and to be honest...regret not picking that colour! It always looked Green to me through my eyes but I know fender had it down as a blue.

Thanks Steve! I think they only made the single hum HM's in '88 so I think you're right with your dates. I have only been to Chesterfield a handful of times over the years so unfortunately am not familiar with the Hudsons music shops; shame to hear it's just one shop now but at least they survived, sign of the times it seems. I've heard the colour referred to as seafoam green before now and it sparked a bit of a debate on the forum a while back (all lighthearted of course) but I believe it is classed officially as teal blue. Funnily enough although mine looks undoubtably blue in the photo at the start of this thread, it often looks green if you catch it in a certain light!

Hi Stratz,
Yeah its definately officially a Blue by fender's classification. Although to me it always seemed Green.
Reason I know...the example that looked like yours took forever to sell (it was roughly the start of the decline for that chain of shops and that HM was one of their last Fenders ...which in itself is a sad story) ...and I went in week after week drooling over it. They started losing the big Brands.
A year later I went in to order one and I was handed the fender paperwork to order one, and there was only about 5 colours to choose...none being listed as green. There was one Blue option (i'd swear by my Jack Daniels soaked little memory it was listed as Ice Blue or something like that) ...but my USA Strat Plus was Lake Placid Blue and I thought, well I cant have 2 blues...so I chose 'Raspberry Red', expecting a deep red. I was abit shocked initially by the pinky lipstick red that arrived.
For me thats the best colour you have. I've only ever owned 3 guitars so I've never had a 1 pick-up guitar...but if I saw one on ebay I wouldnt hesitate to try grab it. Theres something about 1 pick-up guitars....

Theres something about 1 pick-up guitars.... It's actually my 2nd favourite colour, pink being my first choice! At this point I shall just mention that I am married with 3 children lol! I too love the look of one Hum guitars, one of the coolest looking guitars in my book is the Kramer Baretta, I'd love one of those one day. The only problem is you're obviously limited with you're choice of tones, and it's quite a big sacrifice for me to lose the neck single coil as I love that tone. My HM is better than the Baretta on that score though with the coil split and tone control, if you turn the tone down a bit you can approximate a neck pup tone.

Just looking at that hair metal logo collage, I think they got the wrong Slaughter logo, that's the one of the death/thrash band from Canada.

Congratulations!
Glad you finally got one! Now, my single humbucker HM is the nicest of all my HM's so I'm a big fan of that model.
I rewired mine with a new 500k pot going straight to the output jack with no tone control. "We don' need no stinking tone controls!!" haha.
Good job snagging a deal, and thanks for mentioning this site over at Wammi World!
P.S. Damn! Now it looks like you'll have to buy another HM in the H/S/S config!! ;D ;D ;D
