Hey guys, I don't know alot about kahlers or locking tremelos but i am working on this guitar trying to set it up and am a bit puzzled. Is the bridge supposed to be mounted this high? If I lower the knife point bolts, the strings are much too low and can't even clear the pickups. Is it okay that the kahler is this high off of the body?

The HM's have the neck-tilt adjust feature so you can set the angle of the neck without using shims. It's a metal dowel that is housed in the heel of the neck, and adjustable by and allen wrench screw (there's a hole in the neckplate).
Sounds like the angle is set too high and you'll have to level out the neck, then the bridge should set into the body.
If that doesn't work I would check for an actual shim someone might've put in there.
PS - just like an Ibanez Edge, the baseplate should be level with the body, not the top of the bridge.www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/repair/electric-guitar/neck-angle.php

It's a partscaster guitar a buddy of mine made back in the 80s. I'm trying to get it playing again. I was able to lower everyting down, but I cant get the Spyder to lay flat because the shape of the guitar top, it is curved, maybe it was an old Peavey body.
Does the Spyder have to actually touch the guitar top? What difference does it make?
Thanks for all of you help!

Taking a second look, it seems like the pickup sticks up about a whole inch above the pickup bezel. Is there any reason for that?
