Hello, it's good to find a group of people that still appreciate this beauty. Anyway, Im going to purchase a HM with spyder 2720 in the upcoming days. But the condition is, all the clamp locks on the nut are lost by the previous owner (pictures below). I got a reply from kahler that currently they're out of stock of the clamps. But they have the locknuts in case i want to replace the whole thing www.wammiworld.com/p5511.php My question is, that's a 1 5/8 nut..will it fit, i mean can it replace the original nut? What is the original nut width anyway?how about the radius? as far as i know, HM with kahler has 17' radius, and it says the product from wammyworld has 12' radius. What is the consequences of the radius differences? In other hands, my friend offered me a japanese HM (HSS) w/ OFR. From your point of view, which one do u think will be worthed?me, personally, has been searching for kahler HM because the scale & nut differences from other guitar. A jap HM has 25.5 scale, and 43mm nut (correct me if im wrong)..so it wont 'feel' any different from other gtrs, beside how she looks of course. But, considering the rarity of the replacement parts and radius differences between 12' nut that available vs 17' on the original fretboard, i need a second opinion. And both of the sellers live in different city, one of them in different island(the owner of the HM below) which i will fly to them to pick up the gtr Thank you very much

I wouldn’t buy a new nut set, especially if the radius doesn’t match. Even if it did match, you could have mounting and height issues to deal with. If the guitar plays nice and the threads for the clamp screws are still in good shape, there may be an easier and cheaper way out.
You could try getting a half dozen or so of the black generic FR clamps like Stew-Mac sells for about a buck each. I know the hole in the Kahler Spyder clamp is offset from center, but you could elongate the hole in the FR clamp with a round file or Dremel tool. If that doesn’t work, you try to file or grind one edge of the clamp until the hole is the correct distance from the edge. If this all fails, do you have any machinist friends? It would take much to make three of these clamps. You’ll have to find out the diameter and thread pitch of the required clamp screws (could be metric or standard, I forget) but I did make my own from black button head screws from the hardware store. I just cut them off at the correct length (to catch as many female threads as possible without bottoming out) with a hacksaw and then neatened them up with a file.

Please see the thread that is stickied on the first page about the radius differences between Kahler nuts and Fender HM necks.
I would buy a new Floyd Rose R10 nut on eBay - 15" radius. It would be - what - $40 shipped and you'd solve most of the radius difference.
It's what I did to all of mine.

Thanks 4 the reply guys. But by the time u answered this, i already order the lock nut, just for the clamps . And if i bump to radius problem, i will buy the R10 Floyd. It will take a month to get to my country. Too bad, didnt know this sooner. My next search is going to be the original knobs, i know it will be difficult. Thanks again guys
