I've owned two HM strats but only have one now. I just found you guys and checked the serial number thread but mine has an "I" serial number. I only see one other guitar listed with an I serial number. Mine is I 028092 . What do I have? Japanese I assume. What is the official color called? What year was it made? Thanks I've had a good time looking at your forum.

Sure its not a K? E8/E9 =Japanese while K0 is American. Pretty sure it's an "I". I took a bright flashlight to it and it looks like I . Here is a new picture from another angle.

Japanese made! From Guitar Nucleus' page; "A limited number of these "I" series guitars were made in '89 and '90. They were made for the export market and have Made in USA stamped on the heel of the neck." GN's Fender serial page That's about 3/4 the way down the page, under ODD SERIAL NUMBERS.

That's currious. I don't quite understand. They were made for what export market? Is it to export to other countries other than the US since Japanese HM Strats were imported to the USA? I wonder how many "I" serial number HM strats there are? At lease it can be added to the registry.

you also have to look at how many Digits are after the I. Six or seven?
