Hey! You should totally contact Ken at KNE. For a little extra, he'll make the guitar the exact scale length you want. He makes great quality bodies, and you've got choices like Alder, Mahogany, and NORTHERN Ash, which is a great bright wood like Maple. I've gotten stuff from him and can't recommend him highly enough.

I'd put money on a blindfold test of body woods. ESPECIALLY with thick goopy poly like HM's have (which I do love) Heem has put a lot of work into this site, by the way.....which is often a thankless job (btw, thank you Heem) Oh and since you *challenged* me to say that, here "Alder sounds the same as Ash or Mahogany or ...etc. "
