Cool stuff, Jim. So the neck is looking good, but what about the body. Is that the "crispycaster" you sent to Halo?

It surely is the CrispyCaster. Halo's gone for a week, so nothing's happening there. I got involved with my other project, the Peavey Vandenberg clone, and pretty much need to see that thru first. Then I can get back to the HM.
One good thing, though. I had a friend of mine (John at http://www.GuitarAttack.com) rewind the pickups for this Fender HM. I asked him to wind them as hot as the Fender SSL-5's (known as the Gilmour pickups) and to use 43 gauge Formvar wire. He was really jazzed when he finished them and said he's going to wire a set for himself now.
By the way, if anyone needs pickups repaired, John is the guy. He's got a full-time job in the Armed Forces, he just does this for fun and because it's his passion. He makes some great pickups as well. I got a recreation of a Fender 50's single coil from him that is as sweet as Megan Fox in a vat of honey! LOL
His Teal HM is pictured on the Gallery page as well.

What does the DC check/output meter on your re-winds, Jim? 43 is a little thicker than normal isn't it...?
What sort of finish is the Crispy going to have?

43 is supposed to be a little lighter than the wire they were made with. Seymour used it to keep the pickup clean under high gain and high output. My voltmeter is on the fritz, but I told him I wanted them to be in the 9 to 10 range. Halo's gonna do a white finish for me on the CrispyCaster.

Whoop, dunnow hy I said it was thicker. I know my AWG's and things pretty well....and know that lower number = thicker....
White sounds like it would look really great. Nitro or something else?

Well, I guess it's up to Halo, he's the one who's painting it. I was hoping to get a decal of my dog made and put it under the gloss coat as well. The third HM he's painting for me will be gloss black with a maple fretboard. I'd prefer polyurethane though, I hear it has a lot of advantages over Nitro.
I really have to pick a guitar and focus on one at a time. I think I want to get my black crackle up and running again first, because it's just a wiring job away from being completed. Then The Horror (or CrispyCaster, as Halo likes to call it - lol) then the Vandenberg, then the other HM he traded me. Whew! I'm bushed just thinking about it!

Yeah it's just poly. Maybe not as hard as Nitro but easier to work with. Plus it's already available to me in my friends paint shop.

What's up with the crackle HM, Jim? The wiring you say?
Poly's a good choice if you can spray it safe.

What's up with the crackle is that I'm an idiot! haha.
I wired it from scratch using the DiMarzio wiring color codes and THEN remembered I have a Duncan Custom Custom in the bridge!

Ugh, the nitro vs. poly thing is so freaking overblown it's not funny.

Went over to a friend's house yesterday and then to the park where he took about 100 shots of my dog for this guitar. Here's one that turned out pretty well. It's a contender. When I pick one I'll take it into work where they'll print it on the waterslide decal paper I have and then it will get applied to this guitar, then a final spray of clear coat to seal it in permanently.
