Got a bit of a dilemma, have been offered a nice '83 USA Kramer Pacer Imperial, beak h/stock , twin hum, ofr and case for £315. I was bidding on this a couple of months back on the bay before I'd set my heart on a HM, and it's a second chance offer due to non paying bidder. This is a great offer but it would mean putting my HM on hold for a good while unless I sell one of my other guitars, which I don't really want to do. I'm gonna think about it for a day or two, I love 80's guitars but my bank account doesn't lol!

Those vintage Pacers are pretty nice, too. Can't say anything bad against them except that they're missing the 23rd and 24th frets. Also, they've got the square heel neck joint which is a deal-killer for me, maybe because I have smaller hands. But they are definitely players and are supposed to be tone monsters.
Have you seen the new Kramer Pacer Imperials? They are recreations of the originals - mahogany instead of poplar bodies, beak headstocks, Floyd Rose - I think they retails for $379 and I know they've hit Europe.

Thanks for the info heem6, fortunately it's only about 30 miles from me so it's got to be worth a look. That way I get to try it out and see if it's for me, any doubts and I'll leave it.
I have seen the reissues but thought they were a lot more expensive than that, like about $1000? I'll check that out though, if the reissues are as cheap as 379 I could get one of those at a later date if I wanted, I just didn't want to miss out on an original as they are pretty rare in the uk. Thanks again for your advice. ;D

I've just found a uk dealer selling these at £250, which seems a great price. Really appreciate the help bud, thanks, This forum is the best!!!

Glad to be of help. You're referring to the Pacer Imperial reissues Made in America a little while ago that were supposed to be super-premium guitars that sold for about a $1,000.
These are import versions, and I'm sure they're not of that quality, but I just wanted to throw it out there as an alternative (if you wanted an alternative). I would guess these to be on par with an Ibanez RG350.

That seems like a really good deal on that vintage Kramer! I may get bashed for saying this....but if it were me, I'd snag that Kramer first then look for an HM later on. Personally I love old Kramer's but I am not all that keen on the old beak headstock.

I've spoke to the seller today and am going to look at it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the advice guys, I agree with what you say halo71, if it's anything like decent I will buy it and put my HM on hold for a while. I've never seen another one of these come up for sale in limeyland, and at that price it's not gonna break the bank! Know what you mean about the beak headstocks, certainly not the prettiest piece of maple, but they're growing on me!!! Plus Satchel plays one so they've gotta be cool lol!

Ha ha! Great photo heem6!
Well, I bought the Kramer fellas. The condition of the thing is almost unbelievable, theres hardly a mark on it! It even has the warranty card from Kramer that was never sent off. It's a B serial no which I think places it in the '82-'84 era. The case is definately from the period but not sure if it's a Kramer item. It's a brown sort of leather look type case. Thanks for your input guys, although I have this I'm still lusting after an HM the same lol! ;D
I'll post a pic as soon as I get a minute.

Congratulations! I'm sure it's a pretty sweet axe. Kramers are cool because it's like owning a little piece of guitar history as well.
Even though mine are all later models, I still think it's cool to have a guitar with the Kramer logo on it.

Hey thanks a lot! I feel kind of cheeky asking advice for a Kramer on a Fender forum guys , and really appreciate your comments. I just couldn't resist this guitar, you just don't see them over here, especially in this condition. For some reason photobucket has took its ball in and wont let me paste the img code. Will try again later ;D

Hey, don't sweat posting about other guitars here. We all love a buncha different shredders round these parts.
I just wired up a GFS Crunchy Rails in my MusicYo Kramer Striker. People don't recognize them much, but it's a solid alder bodied, reverse headstock, 24 fret neck piece of guitar goodness. It's always sounded good, but the Crunchy Rails has given it giant balls.
