Someone, I think heem, posted an aftermarket Floyd trem for sale for a reasonable price.
Anyone remember this?
Gotoh or Schaller? I can't remember, nor can I find the thread...
Also, are the cheapies on eBay worth buying?
Anyone know of a solid, reasonably priced Floyd?

Ahh, that's what I kinda thought. Thanks for the link. That's a beaut, but a bit out of my range at the moment.
I have a buddy that says he's got a Chrome Floyd from a Charvel he might let go of.
I'll see if I can get a hold of that first.
Wonder why he would remove a Chrome Floyd from a Charvel...

Oh man, my buddy said I could have that Chrome Floyd for nothing!
He just said he might not have the posts, but I could get ahold of some maybe...

Posts shouldn't cost you more than $20. What a nice guy!
If you ever need another trem on a budget, here's one that's not as good as The Gotoh, but that I've been itching to try. He let on that it's made by Ping, so it's basically a Floyd Rose Special, I think.store.guitarfetish.com/nehedudulofl.html

I know, right?
I'll post pics of it when I get it.
I'm looking for a template for a future body...
A body that features a Standard Strat neck and a Floyd.
Is the post dimension fairly standard on all/most Floyd's?

I posted pictures of my aluminum guitar bodies on Facebook, and a buddy of mine that I went to high school with just offered them to me.
He said he had these sitting in a box, going to waste, and he'd rather see them used on a project than sitting in a box.
He won't take anything for them.?
He said I could have the Schaller, but he'd like to keep the black one. Idk
My next project is a 2 piece HM body for myself.
The next, will be a 2 piece HM Style body, routed for this Schaller, that will fit a standard Strat neck...both coming soon...

That will be a good project. While I personally think the regular Strat neck is inferior to the HM, I can understand that making one like that will appeal to far more people. I can only imagine the twang of chicken pickin' on an Aluminum Stratocaster!

Bo,
If I've got my facts right that is a Floyd Rose II. It resembled the Spyder in having stubby string lock bolts, instead of the long ones Like an Original Floyd Rose or Kahler Steeler. I don't mean to pee on your parade, but I have heard complaints/rumors over the years about these models in that the metal that was used for the FRII was inferior as in "pot metal". Wikipedia says the same. I don't know if this is true, just spreading the rumors I have heard. I don't think Floyd makes them anymore. Maybe that is some proof that the rumor is true I don't know. I personally have no experience with them. I have had experience with the Jackson/FR tremolo from around 1986, which was a total POS that was also made of pot metal. It would never stay in tune. Sold it on ebay a few years back.

I googled it and, according to some posts on Jemsite, it seems there were two versions of the Floyd Rose II made. One in Germany (good quality) and one in Korea (crap quality).

My parade will see no pee today...
You're looking at the wrong pic Beast.
The first 3 pics are of my newly aquired German Made Chrome Schaller Floyd Rose Trem.
They sell new at Stewmac.com for $220. www.stewmac.com/shop/Nuts,_saddles/Schaller_Floyd_Rose_Locking_Tremolo_Complete_Set.html?tab=Pictures#details
Schaller website: guitar-tremolo.com/hp135038/Tremolo-Floyd-Rose.htm
I removed the pic of the Black Junko to eliminate confusion.
Here's some more pics.Schaller Stock Photo:

The Schaller you showed us in your pics is the one to which I was referring. Your Schaller may be a later model than the pot metal ones often referred to as junk. Maybe Schaller used better materials, but that is definitely the FRII design I remember from the late 80s, with the replaceable fulcrum inserts.
You seem to be happy with the gift horse and that is what matters. Cheers!
