Hey Gary, if you ever do find them, I'd sure like to have them.
Something I never knew until recently was that Fender never sued anybody over copyright infringement on their headstocks or body shapes until long after it had been going on for decades. If I remember correctly, they just lost a major lawsuit about that specifically because they never took action before.
Also, I tend to think they would only be concerned if they were losing money. Since they don't sell this part anymore, there would be no financial loss to Fender.
There is the matter of using the "F" logo, but I would think that if you did it and kept it fairly discrete (on the down low) they wouldn't waste resources suing (sp?) you even if they did find out about it. I bet the most would be a lawyer on payroll sending you a cease and desist letter - again, if it ever even got on their radar.

LOL That worked much better than I thought!!
Looks like I still need to tweak a couple spots, but to be honest, you can't see that with your eye. The photo brought out the detail.
I'm ordering a couple of those "All Parts" knobs as we speak... ;D

I think it would look fine with white knobs. 
Isn't your chrome trem half black also?

it's only partially black since I put in the chrome saddle things or whatever they're called. I still feel it wouldn't look right with black rubber on the knobs. I wish they came with white rubber grips.

I'd pay good money for a "F" top. I'm missing one on my sonic blue HM.
Along with 3 other lucky eBayers... 
Here it is again, tweaked to remove the straight lines.
The original "F" is deeper and blurred more, so I think I'll sink the engraver tool a few thousandths deeper, and test again. |

Bought a set of those allparts knobs... they look ok... no removable cap tho: it's all one piece...once they've worn in a bit, they'll look good enough... would love an original, but this one on fleabay's a bit pricey for me (when you include postage to uk and tax etc etc)... Maybe one of you guys could do with it?
