Hi, and welcome to all of you who appreciate one of the finest guitars ever made - or those of you who might like to learn more about these remarkable guitars.
Please email me pictures of your HM Strats so that I can display them along with your name (if you give permission) on www.heavymetalstrat.com.
Also, please jump in and start new topics here or in The 24th Fret Lounge (general discussion) or in Other Guitars (discussion about other brand guitars).
Please be respectful to all other users so that this can be a fun and safe place for everyone to post. Please refrain from blatantly offensive, hate-based or bigoted remarks.
The forum has recently been moved to ProBoards, as we were experiencing multiple user issues with the Yuku forums. You can access old posts by going to: www.heavymetalstrat.yuku.com

Like the new forum! Sucks that the old posts are gone. So far I like it. Haven't seen the admin panel yet so I am not sure, hope it's less querky than YuKu was!

HELLO. I COULD USE SOME HELP. i BOUGHT NEW BACK IN 91 OR 92 A FENDER HM STRAT. ITS BLACK WITH GOLD MARBLE. ONE SUPER 3. AND TWO SINGLE COILS. ONE VOLUME KNOB AND ONE TONE KNOB( THATS IT) AND A FIVE WAY SWITCH. AN ' ORIGINAL' FLOYD ROSE TREM. HAS STENCIL LOGO. IT SAYS MADE IN JAPAN AT BASE OF NECK IN BACK. WITH SERIAL NUMBER I007680 ON THE BASE OF THE NECK AS WELL. MY CONFUSION IS WEATHER THIS IS A U.S. OF JAPANESE GUITAR. ALOT OF THE INFO IS CONTRADICS ITSELF. IE. STENCIL LOGO(MIA) BUT MY KNOB CONFIGURATION AND PICKUP CONFIG. DNT MATCH WHAT YOUR LIT SAYS. HELP PLEASE

Hi Brett,
I would guess it's one of the first ones made in the USA. For awhile, Fender was using up parts shipped over from the Japanese plant (FujiGen) when Fender moved production back to America. The neck was likely made in Japan, headstock painted here.
From what I've heard recently, the differences are - better wood from USA Fenders of that period, but better workmanship on the Japanese made guitars.

Hello, I have the privelege of owning one of these guitars and I will soon be purchasing another.
The one I currently have is an HSH with 3 knobs. I'll send pics when I get home.
Regards.

Thank you!
Correction:
My Strat WAS an HSS, but now is an HSH (modded).
I'll explain later when I post some pics.
