Eleven pounds doesn't seem like too much to play while sitting down. I'm now wondering if this guitar might have SICK sustain with all that weight and aluminum.

Les Pauls can weigh that much. I have a PRS that is almost 9 lbs. She is heavy, but the trade off is the sustain you get. Wow it's got scads and scads of it.

Well, I'm starting with 28.5 pounds of raw material, so I'm thinking my estimate will be light.
I did remove a lot of material though, so we'll see.
I hope it doesn't sound hollow and tinny.
I could always add light foam in the pockets.

I don't have any lucite just yet, but iffin' I wuz to find some perchance, I wuza wonderin' iffin' you could cut me out a clear HM body and it sounds like I got my answer. I'm officially on the hunt fer some 1 3/4 in thick lucite. Your aluminum guitar appears to be shaping up quite nicely.

Wow. It's starting to look fantastic!
As Eddie Money used to say, "I think I'm in love."

All done, except for polishing. I'll do that next weekend. I'd comment more, but I'm exhausted. It plays good, but I wired it quick, and the neck pickup doesn't work, but I'll fix it. Just too tired tonight.

Man, she is a beauty! I can't get over how fast you got this built - I checked your original post and it was February 26th. That means you built and assembled and wired this entire guitar from scratch in two weeks! Did you use the pickups from the ESP in this guitar?
Congratulations! No doubt you are exhausted!

Thanks! Yeah, once I get an itch, it gets scratched... ;D Yes, I used the pickups that I had in the LTD. Neck bridge pickup is a Dimarzio Super 3, and the neck pickup is an ESP LH-150 which came stock in the LTD. The action is exactly how I modeled it. More cudos for accurate measurements. I weighed the body last night after I finished and assembled it, and the body alone weighs 11.2 pounds. That's not bad considering I started with 28.5 pounds of material.

Hey, do you happen to have measurements on the neck angle you built into this? And do you know what your string height above the frets is now? (Especially at the twelfth fret.)
The new guitar looks cool! When you polish it, you should photograph it against a dark background so it will really stand out in the picture!

I put a 1° angle in the neck pocket, to maintain the .1" height at the nut.
I can't wait to get a good shine on 'er.
Although, part of me wants to keep the stamp on their that says: "KAISER 6061T"
LOL
