It could be an early '88. Heem might know for sure.

Toss that contemporary strat comment. The site I looked at has E's tied to Japan. Here is the link; HereHaha! At the bottom of his informative post he has a link to this site, when I used to have it hosted on my Cox Cable home page. I would also say yours is MIJ. As a general rule of thumb, all the script logos are MIJ. Also, just fyi - your bridge pickup looks like it's been replaced. Stock pickups were the DiMarzio Super 3's, if you ever want to restore it.

Oh OK, awesome... Thanks for responding and dropping some knowledge Can you comment on the E7XX serial at all or was it indeed too random at that point in time to really know. Thanks again

Help I just bought one on eBay. Fell in love with it. its in very good condition. Im in the process of A) Learning all I can about it and B) trying to determine where it was made. My dilemma is i can't find a serial number anywhere on this thing. I know they're supposed to be on the base of the neck above heel plate but there is nothing there. I checked cavities and can not find one. Any ideas?

I have a Black H/S/S 24 Fret Kahler Maple neck with rosewood fretboard the neckplate says Made in the U.S.A. has a neck tilt adjustment The serial number is E904083, Gotoh tuners silver STRAT logo with pink underline coil tap typical fender neck not 70's oversized the 2 TBX tone controls 5 way switch
Got it at a pawn shop for 150!!!! Been blown away ever since. Only other guitar that I own that came close to it was my Fender Prodigy 2 H/S/S. Same Kahler But the thing that sucks on it is the pickguard input. Step on the cable and its ripping out the all the insides or breaking the jack. Its beautiful Lake Placid Blue. My Name is Preston S., I'm in TX.

It doesn't look like it was scratched off or anything either, just missing.

New to the board here. My HM sn is E927477. Everything is bone stock; HSS, 2 tbx tone controls, coil tap, Floyd/kahler double locker, gotoh tuners, maple fretboard, 24 frets mj, all black. Everything about this thing screams MIJ, but when you call Corona and check they say MIA. My personal opinion is parts MIJ and assembled in America. My question is when people say Floyd rose tremolo are they talking about the Kahler/Floyd Rose spyder? My Kahler has Floyd Rose stamped on the string locking pegs on the tremolo. It says Kahler but resembles 1st gen Floyd Rose. And I read somewhere that the HMs with the 25" scale were made in Japan. The HMs with 25+ scale were MIA. Idk. So much cobbled up info in the mid to late 80's. It would seem that those of us playing weren't the only ones partaking in extra curricular activities, hahahahaha.

Hi everyone!
New to the forum. I got a hot pink HM Strat for my 16th birthday in '89... it was stolen from my car (in Ottawa, Canada) about 13-14 years ago.
Was going through some old boxes and came across the serial #E841795 that I thought was lost.
It was in a hard shell Fender case with the handle busted off.
I realize it's a total long shot (if not lost cause) but if anyone has any info on its whereabouts, I would be interested in finding out.
I pretty much learned how to play on that thing and the (maple) fretboard was totally broken in for my style of playing.
Best guitar I have ever owned...
Anyway, Cheers!
